3.3 Travelling Seat Bed Certification Notice: No M1 Certificate Provided—Travel Safety Not Guaranteed

Dear Customer,

During your recent habitation service, we noted that no M1 certificate was provided for the installed traveling seat bed. This certification is important as it confirms that the seat bed has passed the necessary safety and crash tests required for passenger vehicles. Without it, we cannot verify that the seat bed meets the required safety standards for travel use.

There are several reasons why this certification may not have been presented:

• Non-M1 Certified Seat Bed: The seat bed may not have undergone the necessary crash and safety tests to receive M1 certification.

• Retrofit Without Certification: Some seat beds are retrofitted without being tested in the specific vehicle, making them ineligible for M1 certification.

• Missing Documentation: The seat bed could be M1 certified, but the documentation was not provided during the service, either by oversight or because it wasn’t supplied by the manufacturer.

To ensure your safety, we recommend the following:

• Request the Certification: If the seat bed should be M1 certified, please contact the original converter or manufacturer for the necessary documentation. If not certified, consider removing or replacing the seat bed.

• Verify Compatibility: Ensure the seat bed is M1 certified for your specific vehicle, as the certification must match both the seat bed and the vehicle.

As a best practice, we also recommend storing all certification documents, including the M1 certificate, in your vehicle's handbook wallet. This ensures that the necessary paperwork is always readily available if needed.
